Hello, Gorgeous!

This is issue number TWO on the egg freezing topic and today we are discussing the history of egg freezing, or oocyte cryopreservation, and the badass Dr. Debra Gook. So, what is egg freezing? Egg freezing is simply a process in which a womb holder’s eggs are extracted, frozen, and stored to preserve the individual’s reproductive potential.

History shows us again and again that womb holders need to fight the system to survive and thrive. Egg freezing became an option because one determined doctor, Dr. Debra Gook, questioned the little options that womb holders had at the time. See, back then, doctors could only freeze embryos (egg + sperm = fertilization) or sperms. Womb holders diagnosed with cancer had one option if they wanted to get pregnant, rush to get a sperm donor, and freeze embryos. But thank God Dr. Gook questioned the WHY. She had to convince her boss to pursue this research, even though there had already been three successful births with frozen eggs, no one seemed to be able to replicate the process. Eventually, Dr. Gook was given permission to work on this research and was given 12 months to crack the science. Of course, she was successful, pioneering egg-freezing with a different freezing liquid, and relocating her research to Sidney and California because of embryo research restrictions. One determined doctor prevailed and opened the doors for egg freezing. In this article, you will also learn about two other badass women doctors who continued fighting the status quo and improving egg freezing.

Period Tips By Phase

*note: not all periods or phases are equal. You might spend a longer or shorter number of days in each of the phases than other women, girls, trans and non binary people you know that menstruate.*

Luteal (Day 15 - 28) → Slow down 💤

✮ This is the time of month when PMS will hit you the hardest, that comes with bloating, irritability, anxiety and mood swings (depending on your body). This all means you should take it easy and eat foods that minimize your symptoms. Foods that are high in iron and magnesium like kale, legumes, and quinoa.
