🎉Welcome to Issue 4!
We recently learned a new word, Dyspareunia. Dyspareunia is the term for painful sex, which has a prevalence of 3-18%. The info on this experience is not really accurate or gender inclusive since most researchers have focused on biological female bodies and vaginal pain during penetration, even though individuals can have pain in different areas/ways outside of vaginal penetration. (Trust us, we looked for an article that expanded Dyspareunia beyond those parameters and couldn’t find anything).
Not to get too medical all up in here but we wanted to give a 📣shoutout to the importance of sexual health in our lives. Friends…
Sex. Is. Important!
How you get your kitty split and your wild bore wrangled is crucial for your mental and physical health. In our little rabbit hole about Dyspareunia, we learned that people can end up avoiding intimacy altogether when they experience it and that it can negatively impact so many other areas of their lives. But there are a lot of different reasons that Dyspareunia can happen, and some of the things actually have solutions (light at the end of the tunnel I guess).
To lift the mood, we’re going to play a little game.👇🏼
Now let’s scroll below to get this week’s cycle tip, see cool art, and read something interesting.
Period Tips By Phase
*note: not all periods or phases are equal. You might spend a longer or shorter number of days in each of the phases than other women, girls, trans and non binary people you know that menstruate.*
⚡️ Follicular (Day 1 - 13) → It’s Getting Hot in Here
✮ During this phase, your body’s temperature can be slightly higher than usual (it’s those Fallopian tubes getting sexy making eggs). So to get a more comfortable sleep, wear something light and airy (like your birthday suit 🫦) and use the cool side of the pillow.

Spotlight: Alliance For Periods Supplies
Who are they: The Alliance for Period Supplies is comprised of Allied Programs that collect, warehouse, and distribute menstrual/period supplies in local communities.
Allied Programs are independently operated nonprofit organizations. Each serves as a trusted community resource and advocate for individuals, children, and families who struggle to afford basic material needs
A way to think differently about period poverty: Half of the population menstruates. We all know plenty of people that have a period. But not everyone knows that one in four people struggle to purchase period supplies due to lack of income. This is called period poverty, and chances are we each know someone who has experienced this need – a neighbor, a co-worker, a friend.
No student should have to miss school, no adult should have to miss work, and no person should have to miss out on daily life because they are unable to afford the basic necessities they require to thrive.
A tip/fact: Nearly seven in ten (68%) people agree that period poverty is a public health issue, yet only 4% of Americans are aware of a local resource where free or reduced cost period supplies are available.
